CLASSIC BLUE MAKES A COMEBACK TO YOUR BRAND PLATFORMS
Like Serenity in 2016, Blue Iris in 2008 and Blue Turquoise in 2005, the Pantone colour for 2020 is blue, or more precisely, Classic Blue. Not as vibrant as Living Coral chosen in 2019, this tone, which also goes by the more mundane name of 19-4052, is timeless, elegant and much more besides. For Leatrice Eiseman, Vice President of the Pantone Colour Institute, Classic Blue is a "proven and reliable" tone evoking "consistency and optimism".
A blue night approaching grey, "it's reassuring, full of calm and confidence", making it a colour of its time, while we live in an era that "requires trust and loyalty", she says. In addition, Classic Blue is associated with communication, introspection and clarity. Free of harshness, this colour has a calming effect and favours concentration, without in any way being bland or insipid.
